The Three Graces by Nicolas Cordier (1609)

Nicolas Cordier (1567-1612), was a French sculptor, painter and printmaker who worked in Rome. As a sculptor he primarily produced religious-themed works which were executed for church commissions. In 1606, the canons of the Lateran chose him to immortalise the French king Henri IV.

These Artsocks inspired by the sculpture “The Three Graces'' show three naked women hugging each other. The depiction of women as healthy, robust, and fuller figures is a clear pattern in Classical sculpture. In ancient art, these elements of the female body were precisely depicted as the perfect form of the feminine. Historical retrospect shows that female body ideals were interpreted very differently in antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times. Regardless of these beauty trends, love your body with all your imperfections. Your body will thank you with positive energy, high self-esteem and greater charisma.
